Tagged: routing presets, talkback
I would like to request a feature that allows a listen bus to trigger the talkback latch on and off possibly using the tech that is used in the routing preset. The use case would be in studio environments. The talkback trigger bus can be mapped to your monitor source of choice. As you play or record in your DAW the talkback is disabled. As soon as the audio levels on that source gets below a certain level or stop the talkback button will engage. These will help with more fluid communication between the engineer and talent between takes. Sounds a little lazy as you could assign talkback to a MOM unit or foot switch, but with the speed of a session this would be extremely helpful in keeping a session and communication smooth.
Hi Marcus,
Thanks for this input – I like the thinking, for sure.
I’m currently doing something similar in a live setup:
I’ve got band talkbacks on a ControlPack routing preset with “open” being active whenever there isn’t any pilot tone on the designated playback channel, but as soon as the playback starts and we get a tone (or in our case LTC), the mics just switch to an empty preset, effectively muting that out.
Then the result of that is looped back into the device and added to a live monitor profile as an input that is just always active.
But we certainly like your version and will add it to the gigantic wish scroll for The Elves Beneath The Mountain.
Best,
/J
